Time Management and Students: Exercise

There Is a Secret

To finding time to exercise and that is…drum roll please…having your mind set on finding time for exercise.

And when it comes to time management and students that’s exactly what we need to do….make time for exercise if it’s important to us to look good and feel good.

Think about it, we find…or make…time for the things we want to do.

If our child has a play and we want to attend we plan in advance, rearrange tasks, cancel something, or let housework slide in order to be there to bask in their greatness.

If our child plays a sport…say, football…we will leave work early and schedule an early (or late) dinner. We have to make sure we’re there to cheer them on…after all those cheerleaders aren’t near as good as Mom and Dad.

If an old friend comes into town we rearrange our schedules, cut back on facebook while they’re visiting, and plan the meals in advance. We want to as least make it look like we’ve got it going on.

When All Is Said and Done, We Plan Our Lives

Around what we feel is important.

We will move heaven and earth, rearrange schedules, cancel things, or let something slide so that we can do whatever it is we want to do. This includes tasks for our spouses, children, friends and family.

So, Why Not Schedule Time for Ourselves?

We’re pretty important and I promise you’re not going to find the time unless you schedule the time. You have to decide that exercising (actually the results thereof) is important enough to you that you’ll put aside other things that aren’t as important.

I Make Time For Exercise Because…

Exercise is one of the many pillars of my life.

Taking care of myself is not optional unless I make it optional.

If I don’t look good I don’t feel good. It’s that simple. And the correlation has been proven and demonstrated time and again. I’ll quit exercising and gain 20-30 pounds which takes me increasingly longer to get off.

It’s so much easier…not to mention time saving…to just keep it off to begin with which I do by setting aside small chunks of time each day to accomplish that goal.

To Make Time for Exercising

You need to pull time away from other areas in your life. There are many ways to do that based on your own lifestyle and where you spend…and waste…time.

Only you can determine what changes would be feasible but there are a few areas where the majority of individuals could save time.

One Serious Time-Saver

Is to get better organized.

Another is…if you’re like the majority of people…you could reclaim an incredible amount of time frittered away on frequently performed activities such as housekeeping, cooking, shopping, and parenting.

In summary, there is no have time for exercising…there is a make time for exercising.

And that, my friend, is one of the conundrums of students when it comes to time management.
